Flatwire: The In-Wall Cabling Look Without the Hassle

Flatwire: The In-Wall Cabling Look Without the Hassle

New home owners sometimes brag about how their house is wired and has the TV cables going into the wall neatly. Good for them, but what about those who are already comfortably installed in their house? Tearing down the wall is an option, but that’s often considered “overkill” to hide cables.

The second option is Flatwire. I noticed that they not only have flat cables for stuff like HDMI and audio, but also high-powered devices like Plasma TVs and Halogen lamps. They have been doing business for a while, so just head to their website (decorp.com)to look at the products. I figured that not everybody knows about them.

For info the cables can be painted on “as is”, but they recommend using a mesh to have an impeccable finish.

Altec Lansing Expressionist Classic

Altec Lansing Expressionist Classic

[CES 2009] Altec Lansing has unveiled its Expressionist Classic, one of Altec Lansing’s smallest computer audio systems to date without compromising on audio quality that Altec Lansing is famous for in its history. You get dual 3" drivers that offer balanced treble and bass, providing accurate, full-spectrum sound without taking up much space on your desktop at all. This retro styled speakers will feature the following :-

  • Two 3” full-range drivers
  • Sound Pressure Level (SPL): 90 dB
  • Total Continuous Power: 15 Watts RMS
  • Each Speaker: 7.5 Watts per Channel @ 8ohms @ 10% THD @ 50 Hz - 19 kHz
  • System Response: 50 Hz - 19 kHz (-10 dB)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio @ 1 kHz input: more than 85 dB
Those who are interested can pick up the Altec Lansing Expressionist Classic for $79.95. I'm not too keen on retro or classic styling though, as this pair is an acquired taste that departs from standard speaker designs we're used to. What do you think?
